The Story
When one looks at the many "Legends" of Show Business, there's one name that stands head and shoulders above the rest -- ELVIS Presley.
„Elvis“ begins with one of the King's Final appearances in Las Vegas. Through a series of flashbacks we are quickly transported through all the important stations in Elvis' Life and Career. Within two hours, we experience elvis' comet-like explosion onto the American Music scene -- from his first recordings at Sun Records in Memphis, to his army stint in Germany, the hollywood years up to his triumphant, if short-lived comeback on the Concert and Show stages across America and in Las Vegas.
ELVIS' Development as Artist and Human Being enfolds with graphic and sometimes brutal clarity. The show is populated by all the important characters in Elvis' life -- Colonel Parker, Gladys, Vernon und Priscilla Presley – all work together to create the fascinating world in which Elvis lived and died.
The musical plunders the treasure trove of Elvis' own hits to tell the story of the most important musician of the 20th Century. „That’s All Right Mama“, “Burning Love”, Heartbreak Hotel”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, und “Kentucky Rain” are just of few of the titels that will be used in a totally new and dramatic fashion - including “Will You Still Be There” – The Last unreleased ELVIS Song.
„Will You Still Be There“ was one three new songs that Ben Weisman (composer of 57 ELVIS Hits) wrote for Elvis' last (never released) album. The background tracks were finished, but Elvis died before he could record the lead vocal. For 20 years, Ben Weisman looked for the perfect interpreter for this song until he heard Mark Janicello. Then, his search was ended.... „Will You Still Be There“ stands in the middlepoint of this new interpretation of Elvis' life.
