Mark Janicello Online Newsletter
Nr. 12 - May 2008

Hello Everyone,

In the last 2 months, a lot of excting things have happened and I wanted to write to give you all the latest news..

I started my first website in 1999.  Over the years, the website has really grown and developed -- first from one website to two.  Now, they have become a true representation of me and my work for the world.  We try very hard to keep the websites  up-to-date and interesting for all of you.

In February, we undertook the first complete overhaul of my website in many years.  Both www.markjanicello.net and www.markjanicello.org have both been completely re-made and re-styled from top to bottom.  I think they are a lot  easier to use and to navigate your way through.   When you have a moment, go and take a look.

As a part of this re-style, in January, I did an extensive photoshoot  with Anne Makaske,  a very talented, Dutch photographer.  The results of that shoot were so good, that  Anne's  photos are now gracing ALL the pages of my websites.  This is the first time, that I have dedicated my websites to the work of just one photographer.  However, Anne's work is so special, that I decided to use my sites as a gallery of Anne's photos of me.

This photo on the right is just one of the many marvellous photos that Anne and I did .  She is a real talent and a great lady.  When you have a moment, go and check out her website.  (www.annemakaske.com)

DWI MAN!!!

On April 26 & 27, I will be doing the first of 4 live events as the DWI Man in different areas in Amsterdam.  We've had unusually cold weather all Spring in Holland.  I really hope that the temperature will come up, otherwise it is going to be a very COLD couple of days.  Spandex has many virtures, however, warmth is not one of them!  Cold or not, I get a real kick out of meeting Amsterdammers face-to-face as DWI Man.

The scripts are being fine-tuned right now and then we will be shooting a few more "DWI Man" Spots in the coming months.  He's a fun character, if a bit clumsy, but I really enjoy getting to play him.

You can see the first 4 DWI Man commercials here:

On May 24 & 25th, I will begin a series of performances of my new concert program: "La notte Italiana" in Vienna, Austria.  The 2 "LNI" concerts In Vienna will be filmed for an upcoming TV project.   Come along and bring some friends with you.  In the last weeks, I  have been rehearsing a lot for these shows.

These songs are wonderful and this will be a great show.  I am so happy to be back in Vienna again and to be able to see and sing for all my friends there.  We're going to have a LOT of fun together.

Like a warm, summer breeze , "La Notte italiana" will wash over you with some of the most beautiful Songs ever written.  From "Nessun dorma" to "Mamma", or  "O Sole mio", "La Notte Italiana" will have you singing and dancing in the aisles.  The fiery spanish termperament of "Granada" and "Barcelona" will speak to  your gypsy soul and the dancefloor will be beckoning you with "D'ove l'amore" and "Piu bella cosa" amoung many, many others.

NEW VIDEO -  "La Traviata" Musicfestival Steyr July 2006

Akiko Nakajima, Soprano; Mark Janicello, Tenor and Sebastian Holecek, Baritone

A few days ago, I received a short video of the final Scene of the premiere performance of "La Traviata" from the 2006 production that I did at Musikfestival Steyr.  In the video you will have the chance to hear one of the greatest singers I have ever heard or worked with, Akiko Nakajima singing the death scene as Violetta.  She is simply magnificent.  Sebastian Holecek sings Giorgio Germont and the orchestra is conducted by the brilliant Niels Muus.  The performance was directed by Suzanne Somer and was one of the highlights of my singing career.  This video turned out beautifully and I wanted to share it with all of you.  I hope you enjoy it

"Night of the Golden Classics."

On March 29th, I did my first big concert in Holland since November 2006, in Lisse, NL.  It was called "Night of the Golden Classics."   Anne Makaske attended the show and made some Live performance photos as well.  As usual with Anne, the photos were just amazing.      The concert was a very big success and was filmed for a DVD production.  As soon as the DVD of the Event is completed, you will be the first to know.   I would like to thank Leon Cortez and Klaas Slootweg for their help with this production.

I also did my first television in interview (in Dutch) to promote the concert.

There are 2 enormous television projects that I am working on right now.  Both of them are very exciting.  If either (or both) of them work out, you will be hearing from me again in just a few weeks -- because I will be a very, happy man!!!   As soon as the deals are closed and the contracts are signed, you will be the first to know.  Thanks for reading and until next time!
